Notes on this App: It is created to replace the 2 years old bb5notp.exe

in following versions. SL3 hashes – 25xx and 47xx not yet supported also.
Logs will be saved to Files/Nokia in format xxxxxxx.sl3(where x – last 7 digits
of the phone imei). Logs are not yet supported by Remote Tools for upload

3. BB5Notp.exe
The good, old bb5notp.exe is no longer supported. It has done its work
during last 2 years, unlocking hundreds of thousands of bb5 phones.

How to update:
1. Wait 2-3 hours from the time of this post
2. Update your SD card contents to the latest files using the Genie Update
Client
3. Update your OS using USB cable and Remote Tools – 0.34
4. Enjoy

Please if you have devices for update – do not try to update using older
version of the OS ( 0.187 – 0.197), it will result in blue screen. In case you
do this – do not panick, just update your SD card and press Update in Remote
Tools.

How does it work?
You need latest Remote-Tools Version 1.0.0.32 from download section
and a Genie-Universal Server Account with at least 249 credits
Simply connect your Genie-Universal to PC USB Port, enter your Username/Password
and press button “SL3 Request”.
Phone Informations will be read from phone and submited to the Server. After that you just need to wait for the code to be calculated.
You can check the status of your code calculation by pressing the “SL3 STATUS” Button.
Once your code-calcution started you will see the progress in percent, if there is
another calculation running already, you will see “idle” message.

Turnaround time for Codes:
Turnarround time depends how busy the Server is, could be done within few hours,
but could also take up to few days in case there are many requests pending.
PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT A PHONE IF YOU DON´T HAVE TIME TO WAIT FOR THE UNLOCK-CODE!!

Known errors & limitations:

Notice for prommer version 008.045.016
If you are experiencing problems upgrading your prommer version, you will have to
delete the old prommer software before you can install the new version. Just follow
these steps to get this to work:
Step to install new prommer software
· In Phoenix, select the prommer under Manage Connections.
· Open Prommer Maintenance under the Flashing pull down menu and then
open FPS-X Configuration on the bottom of the box.
· Under Media Formatting, select the Internal CF option then press the OK
button to start the format.
· After the format completes, close then reopen Prommer Maintenance. This
time you will get a prompt asking for you to upgrade prommer version and
show “unknown” for the previous version. Select to install the new version.
· FLS-5 has limited capabilities with BB-5 phones (E71, N79, N81, and N96) “boot code is
invalid” error may occur.
· Multiflash has limited capabilities
o Launch Multiflash UI first and then connect phones one by one
o Do not attempt to service more than 5 phones at a time

General information
· First time Phoenix installation may take a longer time.
· Type labels now can be printed without any special dongles.
· Auto creation of phone data XML-file is an alternative of the fault-log module, and the
path for saving the XML files can be modified with the new UI under
Tools>Options>Phone Info XML files setting menu.
· Rebuilding IMEI/ESN, SIM lock requires Smart card, SX-4 with rebuild access rights
enabled. Please send your SX-4′s serial number to your regional security officer if you
need these rights.
· Rebuilding ESN/IMEI with FPS-8 now requires a SX-4 card to be used. An external
smart card reader is needed when using the FPS-8.
· Auto-tuning requires a user registered and activated SX-4 card.
· Changing product codes and restoring certificates in BB-5 products may require the
SX-4 card to be reregistered with your security officer.
· BB5 products cannot be flashed using the FPS-8 except RM-1.
· Preferred connection to FPS-10 is by the LAN port.
· The preferred connection to FLS-4S is using the USB port.

Special Equipment:
In order to use Phoenix with phone models supported by it, you need to use
1. Latest Phoenix Service Software 2008.44.5.36625 or newer, which includes all
needed drivers and flash support files.
2. Latest product specific Phoenix Data Package or Flash Bundle
3. Flash Update Package for FPS-21/FPS-10/FPS-8/FLS-4S/FLS-5 (v 08.06.001 included
in the package)
4. JBV-1 Software Update v 18 or newer (See ASB_AST_009.PDF (NOL > Support
Library > APAC – Service Software & Bulletin > Drivers & Bulletin > JBV-1 & Bulletin);
not valid for JBV-1 RoHS compliant)
5. Parallel Port Driver for FPS-8 if you experience slow file transfer speed via LPT port
(See ASB_AST_071.pdf (NOL > Support Library > APAC – Service Software & Driver >
Drivers & Bulletin > FPS-8 General Bulletin))
6. PK-1 or PKD-1 Dongle OR FLS-4S/FLS-5 POS Flash Dongle
7. Programming devices for updating the phone software

· A complete Phoenix service software installation package always includes the
latest drivers and flash update files available at the time of the release.
· Please use separate driver or flash support file installation packages only if
updates occur between complete Phoenix releases.
For details of installing each package, please refer to product specific Service Manuals and
Technical Bulletins concerning each mentioned update package.
Procedure
How to install new Phoenix 2008.44.5.36625
1. Download phoenix_service_sw_2008.44.5.36625.exe application file to your
computer (e.g. C:\TEMP).
2. Close all other programs.
3. Run phoenix_service_sw_2008.44.5.36625.exe and follow instructions on the
screen to install Phoenix Service Software
4. Connect a dongle (PK-1, PKD-1, FLS-4S, FLS-5) when message appears on the
screen
5. If you are prompted to update any existing driver or file versions, select “yes”.
6. Depending on the operating system, the PC may require rebooting.
7. Allow Windows to register the Phoenix components.
8. Open Phoenix and update your prommer with the latest software included in this
installation package.
9. Use the latest available product specific data packages or flash bundles with new
multi-protocol Phoenix.

- Now it is possible to put the
device in Sleep mode by pressing
and holding the ’1′ key for 4 seconds
This will reduce power consumption and
act as off mode as requested by many users
Current power consumption on release devices
in main menu from battery is:
- nomal mode/lcd on: 77 mA
- nomal mode/lcd off: 42 mA
- sleep mode/all off: 14 mA
NOTE: Removing the SD card will decrease the
Sleep power consumption to 10 mA!
- Bug fix on flashing Pawn api
- Fixes on LCD backlight off and Sleep timeouts

You can get the update also via the GenieClient.exe.
Some people before complain that can’t unpack the zip file. We
have tested on:
- Windows XP SP2
- Windows XP SP3
- Windows Vista
- Linux
- MacOS 10.xx
If you get problem unpacking, maybe you use some badly cracked version
of the zip unpacker. All above mention OS-es support unpacking zip files
natively.
Some power saving tips:
1. Device will go to sleep by itself after 1-2 minutes if not used and if no
application/script is running. If the charger/usb is plugged, the device will
not enter sleep. So sleep mode works only on battery
2. Sleep mode is a software power off mode. But because not all HW is
disconnected some idle consumption will still drain power. If you have
1680 mA battery(ideally), Genie should be able to last a week in Sleep mode
3. Drain in Sleep mode is arround 14 mA(same as my EEE laptop in completly
off state). Removing the SD card if device is not used for long time is a good
idea, it will bring down the current drain to 10 mA.
4. To switch off device – unload running application, press the ’1′ button,
hold it for 4 seconds, then release. The LCD should go off
5. To wake up – same procedure as before, press ’1′ for 2 seconds and then
